This tool addresses climate change across different regions, characterizes the risk of failure to engineering systems during a disaster scale event, and develops adaptation and mitigation strategies, all while providing this detailed information in rich graphic form to owners and design teams. As the development of a microgrid concept advances, it is critical to identify various possible operational modes of the system. Given the complexity of the system being analyzed, the number of possible system configurations is substantial. To fully understand the intricacies of each configuration or mode and the transition between them, a matrix of generation and load configurations should be developed. State diagrams provide a clear snapshot of each operating mode. Using transitional and fault clearing analyses, the design engineer can identify the required safeties, communications, and sequences of operations required for operation. AEI has significant experience and expertise in designing and applying CHP systems for resilience, as well as within microgrids. |
