Texas Gas Service is the third largest natural gas distributer in Texas and is a subsidiary of ONE Gas. ONE Gas provides natural gas distribution services to more than 2 million customers in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas and is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition to Texas Gas Service, ONE Gas includes Oklahoma Natural Gas and Kansas Gas Service, the largest natural gas distributors in Oklahoma and Kansas in terms of customers. Texas Gas Service considers CHP as a promising solution to customer challenges related to energy resiliency and reliability. With more distributed generation coming on line across the electric grid coupled with the high reliability of the natural gas infrastructure, Texas Gas has identified CHP as a high value proposition for our customer base and as a sustainable growth initiative for the company. ONE Gas, and Texas Gas Service, are working with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Packaged CHP Accelerator and the DOE eCatalog to create awareness of CHP in our service territories, gain insight on successful CHP market policies, and establish quantitative goals for customer outreach. Texas Gas Service is interested in helping customers evaluate CHP and partners with the U.S. DOE’s South Central Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership (CHP TAP) to work with sites to screen for CHP opportunities and provide additional technical assistance to reduce risk along the project development process.
